A 3-year program that trains students to provide basic healthcare and treat common diseases. Graduates work as Health Assistants in hospitals and health posts.

Background

In many parts of the world scientists are investing themselves in introducing public health interventions that can deal with health promoting lifestyle. How ever Nepal is facing three fold burdens of diseases (communicable, lifestyle related & Poverty). In order to cope with this complex situation, development of Health Assistant with necessary skill has become inescapable. H.A. at Farwest envisions fulfilling the need of middle level worker in Nepal

Objectives

  • The PCL General Medicine ( H.A.) programmer intends to produce skillful, market oriented and competent health workers who can contribute in delivering the health service effectively.

  • Getting job in Government Sector as Health Post incharge.

Background

Medical Laboratory Technicians are skilled professionals who provide quality patient care through laboratory testing. With the growing demand from private hospitals and diagnostic labs, their role is increasingly important. They perform routine and emergency tests on body fluids, ensure quality control, and help in disease diagnosis and treatment.

Objectives

  • To prepare skilled "Laboratory Technician to upgrade quality of clinical laboratory to offer "job oriented and self employment course to provide students with a model educational system based upon scientific and technological excellence.
  • To provide qualified and competent practitioners and future clinical leaders, with in the educational frame work, to ensure the integrity of the profession, promote service to the community, and respond to health care issues and needs.
  • To provide strong clinical training in a wide range of areas of clinical diagnosis of diseases that develops their laboratory techniques and skills.

Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Ph)

Background

Diploma in Pharmacy is a three year programme of CTEVT which aims at preparing pharmacy assistance with all scientific knowledge, technical competencies and human understanding so as to discourage practice of quack which is badly affecting the health of people. To prevent the drug resistance and the disaster from wrong medicine/chemical practice, the pharmacy assistants will be mainly responsible to.

Objectives

  • To prepare diploma level pharmacy assistant
  • To prepare supportive technical human resource for pharmaceutical Manufacturing quality control & drug control.
  • To prepare supportive technical human resource for rational dispensing of drugs in hospital pharmacy & compounding extemporaneous preparations.

Scope

  • Continuing education in different universities in Nepal, Bangladesh, India and abroad.
  • Opening retail pharmacy shop in municipality areas.
  • Getting job in government & private hospitals pharmacies.
  • Working in the community pharmacy.
  • In Pharmaceutical Industries.
  • In educational institutional as instructor in different NGO's /INGO's.
  • In quality Control laboratories as an analyst.

Examination and Credentials

Examination System

  • Annual final examinations are conducted by CTEVT.
  • Students must complete both theory and practical examinations in every subject.
  • Internal assessments, attendance, assignments, and clinical performance are also evaluated.
  • Practical and clinical examinations are conducted in hospitals, laboratories, and community health settings under supervision of internal and external evaluators.
  • Students who fail in any subject may appear in re-examinations according to CTEVT rules.

About Admission

Admission to Farwest School of Medicine is merit-based and designed to identify students ready for rigorous academic and clinical training.

Eligibility Criteria

  • SEE/SLC or equivalent examination passed with minimum GPA 2.0
  • Selection based on SEE GPA (no entrance exam required)
  • Must pass English, Mathematics, and Science subjects
  • SEE Marksheet and Certificate are required
  • Citizenship certificate or Birth certificate is required
  • Recent passport-size photo (35x35 mm) is required
  • Admission is subject to seat availability
  • Students must follow college rules and regulations
